The course forms understanding of the relationship between the business processes, which take place in an organization, and the reflection of these business processes in the financial statements.The purpose of the discipline is to form students' modern economic thinking, knowledge of the theoretical foundations of the analysis of the financial position and performance of an enterprise, understanding of the main indicators used in this analysis, as well as understanding the risks associated with the operating activities of the enterprise.Within the framework of this discipline students will learn the structure of the main forms of financial reporting, characteristics of typical assets and liabilities, the relationship between various financial indicators. The course also provides an introduction to the basics of business valuation and value management.

To assess the financial condition of an enterprise, its ability to service and repay the existing debt and the necessity of attracting more financing in order to grow and develop

As a result of studying this section, students will learn to independently obtain basic information for conducting financial analysis and perform initial analysis, taking into account the materiality and significance of the company's financial statements.
Analyze an enterprise's balance sheet, identify typical and atypical assets and understand how the dynamics of the balance sheet reflect the processes occurring within the company.
Understand how the company’s assets were financed and to assess the company’s ability to repay its debts
Learn about working capital and its importance for overall financial management
Assess operational efficiency of a company
Identify typical and non-typical expenses, assess their sufficiency or redundancy by comparison with peer groups or industry average statistics
Assess the company’s efficiency, sustainability and attractiveness for external investors
Perform a comparative analysis to a peer group and to set benchmarks as goals for further improvement
Сhoose proper approaches and methods for business valuation purposes, depending on the characteristics of the target business and information available
Understand the concept of multiples within the market approach, and learn to apply proper premiums and discounts
Obtain financial modelling skills and get a practical understanding of income approach in valuation
Independently obtain basic information for conducting financial analysis and perform initial analysis, taking into account the materiality and significance of the company's financial statements.
